The Pretoria business landscape behind the 012 code
Pretoria is the administrative capital. A 012 number matters most for businesses dealing with national government departments, embassies, universities and the public-sector supply chain.
Within the 012 footprint, the commercial activity concentrates around Hatfield, Brooklyn, Menlyn Maine, Arcadia and Centurion.
A business advertising a 012 number is read by local customers as being part of that
economy rather than a national call centre.
Who typically runs a 012 line
- Contractors and suppliers tendering to national government departments
- Engineering and built-environment consultancies
- Embassies, visa agents and consular service providers
- Research and training organisations linked to the universities
Connectivity in the 012 area
Metro fibre is widely available across this area code, and most business parks have multiple ISP options. A fibre line with an LTE or 5G failover is the usual setup for a business phone line here.

Running a Pretoria number from anywhere
A 012 number is not tied to a physical line, so a distributed team can all answer it.
Sales staff can take Pretoria calls on a mobile app while the office desk phones ring in
parallel. If you later open a second location, you can add another area code and keep
012 as your main published number.
