Built in Cape Town, trusted by South African businesses β professional, affordable business phone lines, first.
Hopetel was founded in 2019 in Cape Town by a small team of South Africans who were frustrated by the complexity and cost of getting a proper business phone line. Between expensive PBX hardware, long-term contracts, and installation delays, sounding professional on the phone was harder than it should be for small and growing businesses.
We rebuilt Hopetel with one goal: make it dead-simple for every South African business β regardless of size or location β to get a professional SIP-based virtual phone number with a local city area code, up and running in hours, not weeks.
What started as a two-person operation in a Woodstock co-working space has grown into a platform serving hundreds of businesses across all nine provinces, offering virtual phone lines with 24 South African area codes, no long-term contracts, and simple month-to-month plans.
To make reliable, professional business phone lines accessible to every South African business β from Limpopo to the Cape Flats β by removing the barriers of cost, contracts and complexity between growing businesses and the local presence they need to win customers.
Four principles that guide everything we do at Hopetel
